September 2025 – Improving community palliative care for people with liver cirrhosis experiencing homelessness

In September 2025 Dr Kate Pitt  a GP serving people experiencing homelessness in Brighton and Hove joined us to talk about how to improve the identification and community palliative care of people with liver cirrhosis experiencing homelessness.

Like so many people working frontline in inclusion health, Kate has seen the prevalence and impact of liver disease among her patients.  People with end stage liver disease have a high symptom burden, and the need for palliative care is too often identified late.  People experiencing homelessness and social adversity have additional barriers to accessing healthcare.  She has been awarded an NIHR knowledge mobilisation fellowship (coastal inequalities theme) to work on improving the community palliative care of people with end stage liver disease.
