‘Tina’ film (26 mins)

This film was commissioned by King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust with funding from the Burdett Trust for Nursing. It is about a 45-year-old homeless woman struggling with addiction, and end stage liver disease, who is trying to reconnect with her daughter.

It lasts 25 mins and is deals with sensitive issues. It can help staff think about judgements they might make when someone finds it difficult to engage in hospital care.

Dr Caroline Shulman was on the steering committee for this film. The project was led by nurse Chelsie Sills, Lead Nurse for Vulnerabilities at King’s College Hospital.

Synopsis

A kind healthcare assistant reignites the desire for 45-year-old, Tina, to find the daughter she gave up as a child, but is it too late? Tina is homeless and suffering from a liver condition that’ll kill her unless she gives up the drink. Through her battle with the bottle and deepening connection with the healthcare assistant, she starts to make sense of her own life and relationship with her daughter.
